Also called Irish Aran sweaters, for the Aran Islands where the style originated, the Irish fisherman sweater is a classic British export. As the name suggests, these were traditionally worn by Irish fisherman to stay warm and dry. When the Aran sweater hit the pages of Vogue in the 1950s, the trend took off. The vintage cable knit pattern actually hold symbolic significance. Something about cables, diamonds, and fish� but we just think they look classy! Keep in mind that this Irish fisherman sweater is a one-of-a-kind article of recycled (used) clothing. Sizing may vary significantly from what you expect.
